This short course is designed to ensure new staff, joining the College of West Anglia, have the information they need to understand and manage safeguarding issues should they arise.

BY THE END OF THIS COURSE, YOU WILL have the required information to:
- Appreciate the importance of safeguarding and child protection within a college environment
- Define safeguarding under 'Keeping Children Safe in Education' (KCSIE)
- Identify forms of abuse
- Recognise the signs of potential concerns
- Understand your responsibilities as a member of staff including how to respond and report a safeguarding concern
Dr Anna James is a criminologist specialising in the management of challenging behaviours and mental health. Anna has worked in prisons, universities and colleges for over 30 years' and now uses her knowledge to further her research, write, train and support others.
